Parts Advisors: About ATA

ATA is a voluntary assessment programme for Parts Advisors working in the retail motor industry. It has the backing of major vehicle manufacturers, independent parts organisations and the Automotive Distribution Federation (ADF).

ATA is based upon Current Industry Standards to ensure that it meets the skills requirements of the retail motor industry.

A robust system

To achieve accreditation, Parts Advisors must pass a series of practical assessments and an on-line knowledge test at an ATA Approved Assessment Centre.

To ensure that they keep up-to-date with new technologies, Parts Advisors are re-assessed every 5 years to maintain their accreditation.

ATA registered Parts Advisors are bound by a special Code of Conduct and they are issued with a photo identity card.

For Parts Advisors there are two competency levels:

• Parts Advisor
• Senior Parts Advisor
