Motorcycle Technicians: About ATA

Motorcycle Technicians: About ATA

ATA is a voluntary assessment programme for technicians working in the retail motor industry. It has the backing of major vehicle manufacturers, independent service and repair organisations and Thatcham.

ATA is based upon National Occupational Standards to ensure that it meets the skills requirements of the retail motor industry.

A robust system

To achieve accreditation, technicians must pass a series of practical assessments and an on-line knowledge test at an ATA Approved Assessment Centre.

To ensure that they keep up-to-date with new technologies, technicians are re-assessed every 5 years to maintain their accreditation.

ATA registered technicians are bound by a special Code of Conduct and they are issued with a photo identity card.
