Motorcycle Technicians: ATA assessment process

There are three levels of accreditation. Technicians must pass a series of tests of practical skill (listed below) and an online-knowledge test :

Service Maintenance Technician

   • Braking systems
   • Engine electrical systems
   • Powertrain / Drivetrain Mechanical systems
   • Vehicle safety and documentation

   • Plus any 2 of the following tests:

   • Chassis systems
   • Vehicle electrical systems
   • Wheel alignment and steering

Diagnostic Technician

   • Braking systems
   • Engine electrical systems
   • Engine mechanical systems 
   • Chassis electrical systems
   • Transmission systems
   • Wheel alignment and steering

Master Technician

   • Braking systems
   • Customer liaison
   • Engine electrical systems
   • Instructional support
   • Powertrain inspection and evaluation
