MET Technicians: ATA assessment process

There are two competency levels Technician and Senior Technician.

Technicians must pass a series of tests of practical skill (listed below) and an online-knowledge test. Each element has an allotted time in which to complete the task.

MET Technician

The six practical assessments at Technician level will measure competence in the following:

• Mechanical component removal and replacement
• Remove and replace mechanical, trim and electrical components
• Carry out a cosmetic panel alignment
• Carry out four wheel geometry checks and alignment
• Remove and refit a radiator and cooling system checks
• Diagnose simple electrical fault


Senior MET Technician

The four practical assessments at Senior Technician level will measure competence in the following:

• Remove and refit SRS component
• Evacuate and recharge an air conditioning system
• Remove and refit mechanical components
• Diagnose electrical faults
