ATA assessment process for glazing technicians
There are three competency levels, Accredited Auto Glazing Technician Grade 2, Accredited Auto Glazing Technician Grade 1 and Accredited Master Auto Glazing Technician.
Technicians must pass a series of tests of practical skill (listed below) and an online-knowledge test. Each element has an allotted time in which to complete the task.
Accredited Auto Glazing Technician Grade 2
The four practical assessments at Accredited Auto glazing Technician Grade 2 will measure competence in the following:
• Remove and refit windscreen
• Replace Drop Glass
• Cut and shape Temporary Glazing
• Glass repair
Accredited Auto Glazing Technician Grade 1
The four practical assessments at Accredited Auto Glazing Technician Grade 1 level will measure competence in the following:
• Complex windscreen removal and replace
• Remove/replace heated rear window/quarter
• Replace/Refit complex drop glass
• Complex glass repair and equipment maintenance
Accredited Master Auto Glazing Technician
The five practical assessments at Accredited Master Auto Glazing Technician level will measure competence in the following:
• Removal and refitting of the same complex windscreen
• Diagnose and rectify complex faults in a drop glass
• Cut, shape and install flat laminate glass
• Diagnose and rectify technical problems
• Customer liaison
