Automotive Technician Accreditation is a national voluntary scheme which tests the current competence of individuals working in the retail motor industry, who are commited to an ethical code of conduct.
ATA Assessment Process - ATA Bodyshop route
Follow the stages below
| Stage 1 – ATA candidate registers with ATA Approved Centre for applicable ATA route (MET, Panel, Paint). |
| Stage 2 - Centre assesses whether candidate is eligible for ATA assessment and meets the route prerequisites. |
| Stage 3 – Centre registers on-line the candidate with an Awarding Body for applicable route. |
| Stage 4 – Centre sends date out to candidate with joining instructions for assessment day/s (number of days dependent on route). |
| Stage 5 – Candidate goes to ATA approved centre for ATA Assessments • ATA candidate signs code of conduct • Photo ID taken of ATA candidate • Briefing of ATA process • Photo ID Required of candidate |
| Stage 6 – Approved centre provides candidate with assessment centre familiarisation for practical assessments inc workshop. |
| Stage 7 – Candidate assessed against route practical assessment criteria and Under Pinning Knowledge (UPK) test. |
Stage 8A – If Candidate passes all practical and UPK assessments • Centre provides feedback to candidate on strengths and weaknesses |
| Stage 8 B - If Candidate doesn’t pass all practical and UPK assessments • ATA Centre provides feedback to candidate on weaknesses and / or possible further training / development. Resit for up to 2 practical assessments referred (any resit to be taken within 12 months of first date or registration), |
| Stage 9 – ATA administration process: • ATA Technician’s name added to ATA register (if required) |
Stage 10 – ATA Technician receives notification 6 months prior to expiry of ATA ID card for recreditation. |
