Automotive Technician Accreditation is a national voluntary scheme which tests the current competence of individuals working in the retail motor industry, who are committed to an ethical code of conduct.
You can now prove your competence with Automotive Technician Accreditation
With the increasing complexity and sophistication of vehicles and a shortage of skilled individuals, there has never been a greater need for competent technicians.
Properly trained technicians are highly skilled professionals; Automotive Technician Accreditation has been developed to enable identification of them.
ATA is a voluntary assessment programme for technicians working in the retail motor industry. It has the backing of major vehicle manufacturers, independent repair organisations, Insurance organisations and Thatcham.
ATA registered technicians sign and are bound by a special Code of Conduct. They are issued with a photo identity card, included on a public register on a dedicated website and there is publicity and point-of-sale material available.
ATA is based on National Occupational Standards to ensure that it meets the skills requirements of the retail motor industry.
To achieve accreditation, technicians must pass a series of practical assessments and an online knowledge test at an ATA Approved Assessment Centre.
For Electric Vehicle technicians there is a ‘single module’ and one competency level:
The accreditation is valid for a period of 3 years:

Assessment fees will vary; the centre will advise the cost of the assessment. There is a single accreditation fee, which includes registration, on-line testing and individual photo identity card. For the assessment fee you will have to contact the approved assessment centre.
or
